Color Trends for 2022

Some of the top paint brands released their 2022 paint color of the year which continues with the feel-good colors of 2020 and 2021. Since the COVID pandemic hit people have been making a lot of changes in 2020 and 2021, one of them was to bring the outside in. Using earth tone colors with a combination of adding flowers and plants completes this seamless flow indoors and out. Bold pops of colors continue to make a way in 2022 as well, also adding beautiful soft powdery colors combined with earth tones to the list of top picks.

The 2022 color picks for each brand are:

Sherwin Williams

Evergreen Fog SW 9130

Evergreen Fog is a relaxing and calm color that is a beautiful green and grey fusion. Adding this color to a bedroom or bathroom will give the room a serene feel. Evergreen Fog can add a simple pop of color to all-white kitchen cabinets or your island as well. Sure Wadden, the director of color marketing said in a statement that It is “a sophisticated wash of color for spaces that crave a subtle yet stunning statement shade.” She also stated that “Evergreen Fog inspires us to begin again and is a great choice for modern interiors and exteriors.”


Breezeway MQ3-21

Breezeway is a subtle sea-glass green color that can add a clean and cozy feel to lighten up a room. This simple shade allows you to embrace serenity. Simply adding in a cream color like Bleached Linen PPU5-09 and a soft coral color of Sunwashed Brick S180-2 can give your living space that nice oasis feel. For that more relaxed earth tone vibe, simple natural hardwood floors, Taupe Tease N210-1and Basswood MQ2-46 accents would do the trick. Behr’s Vice President of color and creative services, Erika Woelfel, describes Breezeway as “a color that welcomes a hopeful sense of renewal, restoration, and healing.”


Valspar added 12 colors to their 2022's list, here are two of our favorites;

Mountain River 4005-6C

Mountain River has a light gray tone to a dark navy blue, that can add that tranquil feel to any space. There is a serene feel to this color when it's paired with warm wood tones. For a more luxe vibe, Pearly Gates V158 and Santa’s Beard V150 will add just the right amount of class. Adding in a gold accent will surely be an attention grabber. Valspar's Color Marketing Manager, Sue Kim said, “A natural hue with depth, Mountain River feels like an indulgent escape within your home.”


Rustic Oak 2007-7B

As warmer tones are becoming more casual, Rustic Oak has that classic shade popular between the ’60s to the early ’90s. These coppery tones can bring in that serene and comfortable feel. A chic white or beige color could give your home that subtle but elegant pop. Rustic oak against dark floors can give your home a more sleek look as well. Valspar's Color Marketing Manager, Sue Kim said, “A warm shade, reminiscent of copper, creates a space for us to feel protected and comforted.”

Benjamin Moore

October Mist 1495

Green is all the rage right now, so the soft sage color of October Mist is the perfect color if you're looking for a simple relaxing color. Combining the gentle tone of October Mist 1495 with light brown tones like Venetian Portico AF-185, and cream tones of Collector’s Item AF-45 and Steam AF-15. In a press release Benjamin Moore’s director of color marketing and development, Andrea Magno informed how “October Mist 1495 and the corresponding color trends 2022 palette reflects an effortless harmony of colors while inspiring unique combinations for any paint project.”
